I love this motor home, but 28 foot is just a tad too long for some of the things I want to do... plus, I'm only one person and don't really need a 28 foot motorhome.
Anyway, I had decided to sell it and then it broke down on the way home from the last trip! (It must have known I was thinking of selling it!)
It was running hot (which is why I stopped). Every time it got hot I pulled over so it was never driven in the red.
I had it checked out by a mechanic.
He said it needs a new radiator (I haven't checked yet to see if we can just re-core the existing one) and a new fan clutch.
Instead of having him fix it, I put it into storage
I am thinking it would be better to sell it "as-is" because I was planning on selling it to get a smaller rv anyway.
If you are a mechanically minded person you can do the repairs for a lot cheaper than I could pay the guy to do them!
It runs fine. It just shouldn't be driven very far without repairs, to avoid overheating.
I have AAA RV so if your mechanic isn't too far away I could have it towed there for you so that you wouldn't need to risk hurting the engine by driving it
(I think they will tow it up to 100 miles).
Anyway, so here is the facts:
It is a 1988 Tiffin Allegro Motorhome
It is 28 foot
It is basement style, which means that it has huge storage space underneath!
It has a chevy 454 engine
It has air bladder suspension for a smoother ride
It has a 100 gallon gas tank
It has 100 gallon white and black water tanks
It has a gray water tank (but I don't remember the size - big anyway)
(yep, this baby will easily hook up to any rv park, but is made so that you don't have to!)
It has electric levelers.
It has a pull down twin bed over the driver
It has a fold out couch that makes into a full sized bed
It has a dinette table / benches that make into a bed
It has a full sized bed in back, in a separate bedroom
It has a full kitchen with refrigerator, microwave, sink, oven, stove - everything works fine
It has a separate bathroom and shower
It has a roof air conditioner
It has ducted heating with a thermostat for the living room area and one for the bedroom area.
It has stereo speakers in front and in the back bedroom
It has a car stereo that can play your ipod
It has HUGE outside storage bins
It has lots of storage cabinets inside
It has a built-in ladder up to the roof
It has a spotlight on the upper front that you can control from the driver's seat
It has a shut off so that the generator can not run you totally out of gas
It has an emergency switch so you can start the engine from the house batteries if you need to.
It has a small TV / VCR Combo that fits in the dashboard and also in the bedroom. I'm not a TV person and have never used it, but it should work.
It has an antenna that raises by a crank in the ceiling.
We added heavy duty wheels under the back bumper so that it won't drag over dips.
It has an overhead air conditioner
I have all the original manuals
Current California registration.
Smogged in CA.
Because of the large tank size and the amount of living space, this could even be a great portable office or temporary home for someone.
Just park it where you need it and then drive it once every few weeks or so (depending on usage) to dump the black and gray water tanks and full up with more fresh water.
The generator also broke on the last trip and I haven't had a chance to figure out what is wrong with it
It is a good onan generator though. So, I'm sure it is fixable
Also, the awning cloth is not usable as-is and needs replaced. The awning supports and everything are fine, it just needs a new cloth.
There is a leak in the leveling system where a mechanic moved one of the small hoses and it was next to a hot pipe and melted in that spot.
I've never tried the dashboard air conditioner. So, I don't know if that works.
The dashboard heater does work, but the fan associated with it sounds like it needs repair.
Oh and the steps just stopped working for some reason. I think it is an electrical issue, but haven't had a chance to research the problem.
Without problems, it would be a $10,000 motorhome.
I'm asking $7500. So, it is a good deal esp if you can do your own mechanical things.
The storage space where it is, is great! There is lots of room and I'm sure the people would not mind you parking it there and working on it.
So, that is another option too. The space runs $75 a month.
I'd love to show it to you in person!
I am getting ready to move it to carlesbad. So, if you are interested and want to see it where it is, please let me know.
