New at this winter traveling!! Would like to plan trip this Winter, but worried about driving a 40' rig on New York State snow covered roads. What do people do when traveling South?? Do you need to put special tires on the rig, or will it travel okay with regular tires? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

No need for special tires. Drive slowly, smoothly, try to leave more than enough distance between you and the guy in front of you and watch out for all of the cars who think it's 80 degrees and sunny. There are always the people who think that they have to get there before you do, whether it's Florida or the next exit. Don't become a victim of their poor decisions.

It's pretty simple really. Drive slowly, brake gently and leave lots of room between you and the guy in front of you.
Be prepared for the immortals who drive faster in snow than on dry roads and let them by. Although they're pretty sure nothing can hurt them or slow them down, try not to let them ruin your day and do place a call for them when you see them off the side of the road - it's the neighborly thing to do
Depending on which states or provinces (Canada) you're driving in you might need to carry chains. Also, having a pair of coveralls, a small ground sheet and a shovel to use if you actually have to put them on is a good idea too. Mostly, just remember that your acceleration and deceleration will be affected by slippery roads. Take your time and allow for unexpected stops or layovers. As others have suggested if it starts to snow, take a break and wait for the snow to stop and the snowplows to clear the road.
Hope you have a great time. |

Just bring your chains and a great deal of patience Studded tires may be illegal in certain states/counties and could result in you being ticketed.

Hi; Have you considered looking at another brand, such as a Tiffin product? We've been very happy with ours and they also make a gas model, if you prefer. A large number of people in our RV park in Florida have recently bought the Tiffin product and are really thrilled with it. Just food for thought! Take care. | batateam wrote: | I have always ottawa asian escorts owned Newmar products, which I always enjoyed. My family took a year+ ottawa asian escort off from RVing (sold the DSDP) and now realize we miss it and want to consider getting back in. I guess I am that guy no one ever claims exists... I am ottawa escorts probably going to return to a gasser from the DP. For me, it simply comes down to expense. The DP was really nice, but as a family RV, it was just too expensive. The KS/W22 I ottawa escort
owned was more the adequate for our needs (we are just vacation/campers). The problem is, in the past year+, RVs have only gotten more expensive from Newmar. Even the nice gassers from Newmar are now very expensive |
